Timothy Smith | Director & Chairman
Timothy Smith is an experienced executive, angel investor and entrepreneur who has served on a number of corporate and non-profit Boards. He has held numerous senior executive positions in the healthcare industry, consulted for a healthcare investment banking subsidiary of Merrill Lynch and founded, run and sold a variety of companies over the past 30 years. Currently President and CEO of Claricon, LLC, Mr. Smith is a nationally recognized author and speaker on the issues of driver training and teen driver safety. Mr. Smith received a Masters degree in biology from the University of Michigan, and has coursework toward an MBA at the University of Michigan and the Wharton School of Business.
Paul Zimmerman | Director & CEO
Paul has more than 25 years in global business leadership experience in telecommunications, computing and consumer electronics with Cisco Systems, Samsung and Hewlett-Packard. Based out of headquarters in Singapore, Mr. Zimmerman was responsible for Cisco Systems' mobile wireless business across the Asia-Pacific region and was a founding Managing Director of the Softbank Asia Infrastructure Fund – a $2B private equity fund founded with Cisco as its Limited Partner and investing in the technology, media and telecom sectors. Prior to Cisco, Mr. Zimmerman led Samsung's international telecom infrastructure expansion into Eastern Europe, Latin America and South East Asia. Paul had joined the Samsung Group as a founding member of the, now, renowned Global Strategist Group. Reporting directly to the Chairman’s Office, he led internal strategy teams on the highest Group priorities including global branding, digital media convergence, consumer electronics value innovation and M&A initiatives. Most recently, Mr. Zimmerman served as Chairman and CEO of Angstrom Power and led the company through the challenging fuel cell sector with global partnerships and strategic licensing initiatives culminating in the successful sale of the company to BIC, Inc. Paul holds a B.A.Sc. (Engineering Science) from the University of Toronto and an MBA from the International Institute of Management Development (IMD) in Switzerland.
John Geyer | Director & Founder
John’s entrepreneurial experience spans 20 years building successful high-tech companies. John is a co-founder of Aegis Mobility. His previous company, CustomFlix, now known as Createspace, developed the industry's first on-demand DVD publishing service and was acquired by Amazon in 2005. John also created MediaCleaner Pro, which became the industry's standard multimedia tool for preparing online video. The company was acquired in 1999 and the product is now part of Autodesk's portfolio of digital media creation tools.
Roderick Nelson | Director
Rod has more than 25 years' experience in telecommunications technology including general management, technology development, and application engineering. His experience includes a Fortune 500 conglomerate and a cellular telephone start-up that grew into a $41 billion company. Since founding Nelson Technology Partners (NTP), he has worked with startup companies and major telecom giants to help define their technology strategy and to create compelling user experiences. He is a founder of Sotto Wireless and also served as Executive VP and CTO of AT&T Wireless Services.
Gary Nusbaum | Director
Gary Nusbaum is a private investor and advisor based in Westport, Connecticut. Mr. Nusbaum has spent more than 20 years in the private equity and asset management businesses. From 1989-2002, Mr. Nusbaum was at the Private Equity firm Warburg Pincus, where he was a Managing Director. At Warburg Pincus, Mr. Nusbaum was responsible for more than 20 investments totaling $3.5 billion, including companies in the media, telecommunications, retail, healthcare, environmental, and logistics sectors. He worked in the firm’s New York and Hong Kong offices, and opened and ran the firm’s São Paulo office. His portfolio included start-ups, growth capital, and leveraged buyouts. Mr. Nusbaum also developed Warburg Pincus’ dedicated restructuring practice in 2001 and 2002. From 2002-2005, Mr. Nusbaum was a Managing Director at Aetos Capital, a $5 billion asset management firm. Mr. Nusbaum was the firm’s Chief Financial Officer and headed its private equity business, which managed more than $250 million invested in 40 funds and direct investments. Mr. Nusbaum was a member of the investment committee of the firm’s Japan-focused real estate fund, Aetos Capital Asia. From 2006-2010, Mr. Nusbaum was a Managing Director at Palladium Equity, a private equity firm with $1 billion under management. At Palladium, Mr. Nusbaum was a member of the firm’s investment committee, and was responsible for the firm’s investments in the media, consumer, and retail sectors, as well as its Latin America practice.
Mr. Nusbaum received his Bachelor of Science in Economics, summa cum laude, and Master of Business Administration degrees from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He currently advises several private companies and serves as Chair of the Nominating and Governance Committee of Response Genetics, Inc. (NASDAQ: RGDX), a healthcare company focused on personalized medicine. He has been a board member of more than 20 public and private companies.
Nick Bedford | Director
Nick Bedford is a private investor in the company and an experienced investment banker. Mr. Bedford served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of ActiveState Corporation, up to the time of its acquisition by Sophos UK. He has held senior positions at UBS Warburg, including the Frankfurt-based role as Head of German Equities. In this position he oversaw all sales and sales trading of equity products, and was responsible for the merger of UBS Germany's equity business with SBC Warburg. Prior to this he was with UBS' Securities division in Zurich, Tokyo, and London. Mr. Bedford holds a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from King's College, London University.
